As a science brand, we are best known for our distinctive animated videos and our elaborate products around the kurzgesagt theme worlds. Through our globally successful YouTube channel with more than 24 million subscribers, alongside our physical products, social media presence and interactive video games, we aim to inspire people around the world about science and make knowledge accessible and exciting. We believe that well-researched facts are just as important as humor and good storytelling. After all, nothing in the universe is boring if you tell a good story.

Our international team currently consists of about 70 great colleagues. Our editorial team is looking for a competent and highly experienced Scriptwriter & Storyteller (all genders) for presenting our scientific content on YouTube. How you make an impact - in a nutshell

• Come up with and develop new video ideas that start strong, tell a great story, and leave people feeling smarter
• Create and refine scripts that use intensive source research to build trustworthy, emotionally engaging stories that connect with viewers
• Engage with scientific experts and skillfully integrate their input to elevate the accuracy and depth of our content
• Work hand-in-hand with the rest of the editorial team to deliver high-quality videos
• Maintain and elevate kurzgesagt’s quality by upholding strong storytelling and topic-selection standards while continuously improving the narrative impact of our videos
• Ultimately, you are a source of ideas for our YouTube channel and a voice that represents the values and mission of kurzgesagt to the outside world

What you are best known for

• Accomplished storyteller experienced in crafting narratives that hold viewers’ attention over extended formats (ideally tailored to the YouTube format of 10-20 minutes)
• Impressive track record as a scriptwriter (we’re not specifying a certain number of years, but are looking for very experienced writers) with a keen intuition for compelling ideas, engaging topics and crisp facts
• Skilled in developing and producing high-impact factual content and extended narratives
• Ability to quickly grasp diverse topics with intellectual depth, delivering clear, concise, and engaging writing while seamlessly adapting our tone even under tight deadlines
• Meticulous in fact-checking and research, proficient with primary English-language sources, and open to exploring unconventional ideas and refining concepts collaboratively rather than settling for the first solution
• Strong educational background, ideally a science-related PhD, with broad interests including Physics, History, Philosophy, and other scientific subjects
• Good sense of humor and an optimistic and human-centric outlook on science, technology and the future of humanity
• Highly articulate in English, able to convey ideas clearly in writing and speech
